Free exercise, swimming and fitness sessions for people 55 or over at Riverside Leisure centre, Norwich and sheltered schemes in Norwich.

To take part, participants must be doing less than 30 minutes of moderately intensive exercise every week (something which leaves you short of breath). This does not include walking, gentle exercise, DIY, gardening, housework or is work-related. The project’s aim is to decrease inactivity and look at barriers people face when trying to take part in exercise and find ways to reduce or remove the barriers.


Opportunities to take part in Aerobics, Swimming, Aqua Jog, Circuits, Core and Balance exercise and Guided Gym Use at Riverside Leisure Centre.

They are on at different times during the day throughout the week including a sunday session. Sessions are also held at some sheltered housing schemes include Zumba Gold and Circuits.

Once you have joined the project, participants can go to whatever session they would like to, no need to book or say if they are coming or not.

Riverside Leisure Centre (next to Morrison’s/Norwich City FC). There is a large free car park and is on a bus route. Sessions at the sheltered schemes vary.
